Type 2 Diabetes Resource Guide

The best thing you can do if you or someone you love has been affected by diabetes is to learn as much as you can about prevention, management, research and advice. Here’s a list of local and online resources you can use today!

Type 2 Diabetes Organizations

American Diabetes Association (ADA)

The ADA is an excellent resource for information on diabetes prevention and management. Their website offers tons of information on nutrition, weight loss and advocacy. You can also find your local office to get involved with the community.

American Heart Association (AHA)

People with type 2 diabetes are at high risk for heart conditions. The AHA website is a great go-to for info on how to prevent and manage high blood pressure and heart disease.

Cone Health Resources

Diabetes Classes

These classes are available as a benefit to Cone Health employees and their dependents.  A guest is always welcome to attend with you – just mention it when you schedule a class. Classes cover topics such as:

  • Diabetes overview
  • Basic meal planning
  • Staying healthy (tests, annual checks, exercise and stress management)

Annie Penn Hospital diabetes classes are offered in the dining room on the first and third Monday of each month. Learn about Diabetes Management Basics (Survival skills), and Meal planning; classes are 2 hours long. *Registration is required. Please call for more information about class times and to register 336-951-4731. No referral is necessary to attend and classes are free.
